Perhaps you don’t know what to do with a patch in your garden, or, do you feel that you haven’t got the knowledge to create a fantastic border?  AT JC Plants we offer a border design service.  For a fee of £50.00 (provided you purchase that majority of the plants from us) we will happily design a border to fit the descriptions you have provided us with.  You will also benefit from a 10% discount on the plants you buy.  We have several different themes that we can design around, these are;

• Carte Blanche – James Coles will design a border using his own style of border design that mixes and matches many different plants that all thrive in similar locations, no colour themes.
• Cool colours – a border with blues, purples, pale pinks, yellows, lilac, mauves, white and cream to make a relaxing and peaceful effect.
• Hot Colours – a border for late summer, red, yellow, orange, bright pink, purple and blue combined with grasses and some large leaved plants to create a hot and spicy tropical effect.
• Cottage Garden – James Coles will use his experience gained whilst working at the famous East Lambrook Manor, the home of English cottage gardening, to create an interesting cottage themed border using old favourites.
• Formal – a border with a formal layout and using such plants as Lavender, Box and Rose.
• Shady Woodland – a border to give you the impression of a shady glade or woodland using ferns and shade loving flowering perennials, a place that elves would feel at home in!

Please provide us with a description of the border or area you wish to plant up.  Please provide  the following;

• A rough sketch of the general shape of the area.
• The measurements of the area including length, width, depths of irregular shapes.
• How much light does the area get - is it in sun or shade, if partially shaded, for how long each day.
• What type of soil do you garden on? Firstly is it clay, loam or sand. Secondly is dry (well drained), average, moist or waterlogged. Thirdly is the soil alkaline, neutral or acidic.
• Is the site sheltered and near a hedge or fence, trees or building or is it exposed and subject to strong winds?
• What you would like from the border.  What kind of effect you would like?  Please select one from the following – Carte Blanche, Cool Colours, Hot colours for late summer, Cottage garden, Formal, Shady Woodland.
